Pitt May did not marry. Betsey Matilda May married Lucius Babcock, 25
Feb1840. She was probably Pitt May's sister, as was Melona who married
and went toward Stanley, NY to live where she is buried. It would seem
that Anna was the mother. The Mays lived on the turnpick at the end of
the Cemetery road.

Norman McPherson lived on the Dan Schuyler place, south on the Cemetery
Road. A Capt. William McPherson is found on Lot 56, Seneca Township,
son of Alexander McPherson. Capt. William was Orange-Irish and came
from Penn. to Ontario County in 1800. There was also a family of
McPhersons living on the Reeds Corners Road.

Rev. Joseph Merrill was the first minister in the Hopewell Pres. Ch.
and served there about 27 yrs. In 1807/8 he married the widow of the
pioneer Joseph Birdseye who died in 1805. Their third son was Benjamin
who lived in Chicago and there became quite wealthy. He left two
daughters.
